Spectrum Logic launches 3131HS - a new large area super-fast X-ray detector for CBCT and Fluoroscopy applications

February 21, 2022 in CMOS, X-ray Detector, Spectrum Logic News, New Product Introduction, large area detector

London – 21st February 2022 – Spectrum Logic, an innovator in X-ray imaging solutions, today launched the latest product from its range of large area, super-fast flat panel detectors - 3131HS.  The 3131HS is a dynamic X-ray detector designed for clinical applications, with a pixel pitch of 100 μm and a choice of high-efficiency or high resolution CsI scintillator or Gadox. It is ideal for Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) or fluoroscopy applications.

The 3131HS has an innovative sensor design which enables a full frame rate of up to 84 fps and higher speeds in region of interest modes The flexible region of interest function allows a region to be configured to optimise the frame rate, for example 1500 × 2000 pixels can be read at 160 fps. It is the largest member of our 100 µm HS family.

This detector employs a state-of-the-art CMOS sensor with 14-bit digital outputs and two gain modes offering a high dynamic range mode or a high sensitivity mode ideal for low dose, real-time imaging. The sensor array is bonded to a fibre optic plate (FOP) to enhance image quality and make the device more radiation tolerant.

The 3131HS is offered with a choice of three interfaces including Camera Link, USB 3.1 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet. The USB is a simple plug-and-play interface which can be used with our Graphical User Interface (GUI) Software to get up and running in minutes without requiring a frame grabber. Our in-house software development supports a Windows-based software development kit (SDK) for easy and smooth integration to into the customer’s software. The SDK offers image capture and corrections.

Ed Bullard, Chairman of Spectrum Logic commented that, “the 3131HS is an advanced CMOS-based X-ray detector that offers unmatched performance for dynamic applications including surgery and CBCT. Our vision at Spectrum Logic is to utilize our world leading CMOS sensor technology to develop high-end, high-quality X-ray detectors for professional applications in Medical, NDT and scientific X-ray imaging”.
